My chosen family. A miracle in time.
On my walk today at the Pullen park, I read the red signs from a storywalk and I am amazed by the universe. I text my dear friend and share the 2 photos from the storywalk that showed me her love for christmas traditions — tamales and oaxaca hot chocolate.
A miracle.
Last week of 2021 was an experience of a lifetime - a moment to cherish.
My heart is full. My mind is at peace. My soul is right where it needs to be.
I was with my dear friend and her loving family for the holidays. I didn’t realize how much I needed it until I was there — I was right where I needed to be, I belonged. My friends in Raleigh were all visiting their families and I thought I was going to be alone for the holidays. And this was a magical week for me in all shapes and forms — from meeting her daughter for the first time to experiencing family traditions and just in awe with everything to wrap up 2021.
I got to make and eat tamales, even had Oaxaca hot chocolate, made my signature matcha cake and turmeric milk, watched Encanto and even played the board game Pandemic. And on new years, I got to have lunch with my dear friends to kick off 2022! I couldn’t ask…
